My Students

My students range in age from 6 to 7 years old, with a variety of ability levels and learning styles. Our learners come from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds and experiences. Having a safe, fun, and comfortable place to come and learn is of top priority for me as their teacher. Each and every day, my students enter the classroom ready to learn with big smiles on their faces. They are motivated to make each and every day a great day for themselves.

My Project

The students in my classroom will be able to progress and improve their math prowess using a hands-on learning approach. In my classroom, I encourage students to challenge themselves and work independently. With these materials, it will be such an easy task for them to do. Students will be using these manipulative during math time to help with solving addition and subtraction equations. By bridging the gap between concrete and abstract (using the materials requested to build numbers during math lesson and math games), my children will be able to make hard math easy. Having success with the materials will promote confidence and motivate them to work on even more thought provoking exercises. Students will be using the two-sided counters and bears manipulatives to help with addition and subtraction concepts. Students are able to use the counters to build numbers to 20. The jumbo unifix cubes will be used during whole group lesson so all students are able to see. When I am modeling math concepts, students from all areas in the classroom will be able to see from afar. Enjoying what you're doing and having success doing it is a sure fire way to want to continue! Thank you in advance for your consideration of this important project.
