My Project

Our FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team recently finished our first full season in two years. Even given the fact that our students were mostly new to FRC, and that we ran into external issues such as supply chain holdups, we had our best performance yet! We ranked 15th out of the 41 teams at our regional, and we were the first alternates for the eliminations round.

We learned a lot about our team and its needs during this season, and there were tools and supplies that we consistently would have benefitted from having more of.

The Craftsman tool chest that DonorsChoose donations generously gifted us with worked like a dream for transporting our supplies to competition and for making it much easier to access what we needed when we needed it, but the supplies in our older storage methods didn't fare as well in transit and weren't nearly as easy to access. Our new band saw, also from our previous DonorsChoose project, was immensely useful, but we learned the hard way that we needed replacement blades on-hand, and that we would benefit from different blades for cutting different materials. And our hottest tools, which were always in use and then some, were our cordless drills.

After a difficult but successful season, we want to be as prepared as possible for the seasons ahead. Acquiring these new tools will help us smooth over some of the bumps we ran into this season and increase our opportunities to be an even better team next year.
