Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our little school of 230 students has made great gains academically over the past years with the small budget we receive. We are often overlooked because we are so tiny. Our school's budget covers supplies and not much else.

We are an example of a working community of students, faculty, parents, and staff all working together for student academic success.

Our hope is that many of our students will continue to maximize learning and go to college with the needed tools to succeed in life. Whenever they are able to learn about the technology (21st Century Skills) it demonstrates their enthusiasm to learn grows.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of lap desks and fidget bands to provide alternative seating and printer ink cartridges so we can print student work. As a teacher I understand that my students need to move. While I try to get my students moving in class, sometimes it is not an easy task. In order to foster active listeners and learners, I want to keep them moving with flexible seating. This will allow them to rock back and forth in the seats, they can occupy their feet by kicking the band, and sit on the rug with their lap desk. This project will enable my students to be active while learning whether it be moving or printing. This will motivate the students to use technology while they study the style and purpose of art. They would also be able to print their student-generated art and reports to display it for the school community to appreciate.

Flexible seating will allow them to keep focus on the lesson even when their body is telling them it should be moving.

This movement will allow their body to be in motion with the least amount of distraction for themselves and other students. This project will also allow my students to continue to appreciate, create, and learn about the visual arts.

I think that through flexible seating we can promote positive interactions that will promote healthy relationships and learning. This project will allow them to view that they too have a story that could be told through an artistic contemporary style.
