My Students

"A grape bunch!" What a fitting description for my students! Having taught them this last year in the fourth grade, I am delighted to have them back again for their final year in elementary school. My students are defined by the effort they give each and every day.

This past year they have shown their willingness and determination to overcome challenges borne of their disabilities, to achieve wonderful academic success.

I could not be prouder of their results.

One of the things that is most admirable about my students is their generosity, their willingness to share and help one another. I have seen them carrying one another's bags, sharing their lunches, encouraging one another when the work gets more intense, and engaging in great peer activities. Their passion for learning positively impacts mine for teaching. Nothing makes me happier than to see my "grape bunch" enthusiastic about learning.

My Project

How terrible it is to have your students come up with really good ideas and then not to have chart paper on which to display them! My students are constantly working in pairs on various activities and are in desperate need of chart paper to display their work. They make outstanding art work on the chart paper. They love to see their efforts posted. As a teacher I also need chart paper to create lovely experience charts about concepts that I am teaching. These charts serve as reminders to students of themes already covered. We need a heavy duty stapler for all our work packages and an electric hole puncher to assist us in organizing our work in binders. My students use binders daily. Their printed work gets lost or messed up at times. They desperately need a hole puncher so they can keep all their various links and subject areas separated in their binders. The heavy duty stapler will allow them to easily staple their work on the various boards inside and outside of the classroom. They can showcase their work without it being ruined.

Chart tablets in particular, allow me to present vivid and creative representations of topics, which are valued by all students, but especially our visual learners.

The hole puncher and stapler are teachers' lifelines and are utilized throughout the day, every day. They run out or get broken and constantly need to be replaced. It is imperative for me as a teacher to have these three important tools in order to facilitate the best learning outcomes for my students. Please assist me in realizing this worthwhile project.
