Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"All mankind is divided into three classes: those that are immovable, those that are movable, and those that move," Benjamin Franklin. My mission statement is to aid my students in becoming those that move, and they need the tools to achieve this.

My students are at risk, low income students that require dedication and most importantly, motivation.

They are good kids that need a caring word and nudge in the right direction. They need more than a teacher; they need a motivational speaker, surrogate parent, and a shoulder to lean on.

My Project

The students will use these much needed supplies: markers, pencils, and highlighters, to identify strong textual evidence (This is a major part of the Common Core Standards) by highlighting relevant information. Students could then use the writing instruments, that are not provided by the school, to use that relevant information in order to create coherent essays. Without the sharpener that can handle the large volume of students, pencils are useless. In addition pens are great for producing final drafts that the students can take pride in and boost their self-esteem. Also, they will use the markers to create student led presentations in order to add depth of understanding. These materials are tools for success.

My students come to school lacking the basic necessities of learning, such as writing implements.

In order for a child to learn they must have the essentials for learning. My students view a pencil as goodwill that will serve as motivation to learn.
