Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher teaching in a Title 1 school in Staten Island in a self contained classroom. My classroom has a very unique mix of students representing a variety of linguistically diverse cultures, economic statuses, academic, physical and social needs. 100% of my students require more intensive intervention to help them reach their full potential.

In my classroom 40% of the students are diagnosed with ASD and require additional resources to help meet their needs.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the means in which they learn varies greatly. In order to meet their individual needs I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and student choice to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!

My Project

This project has been created in order for me to continue to provide my students instruction in a learning environment that grants them the equity they need for success. The books I have carefully selected will be a great addition to my classroom library. I teach a diverse population of students and once this projected is funded they will be able to read books that portray characters that represent their culturally linguistic backgrounds. In addition, the flexible seating options I have selected will give my students more choice to learn in their 21 century classroom.

By donating to my project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement!
