Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our preschool classroom, my goal is to provide students with a strong foundation for success in kindergarten and beyond. To do this, I’m creating developmentally appropriate learning centers that focus on early literacy, math, and social-emotional skills. These centers will give my students the tools they need to learn in ways that are both engaging and meaningful.

With the right tools, my preschoolers can turn curiosity into confidence, and play into lifelong learning.

They'll explore math concepts through hands-on activities and games that make learning fun and interactive. Beyond academics, these materials will also help my students build critical learning skills like impulse control, sharing, caring for school supplies, and managing emotions.

My students are incredible. They come from a community deeply impacted by poverty and recent trauma, including the loss of nearly half the housing in our school district during a devastating wildfire. Despite these challenges, they are resilient, curious, and eager to learn. Since September, we’ve created a classroom where everyone feels safe, respected, and welcomed. In this nurturing environment, my students have formed strong friendships and gained essential social skills.

Now, I want to build on this foundation by giving them the academic tools they need to thrive. These materials will not only prepare my preschoolers for kindergarten but will also foster confidence and joy in their learning journey.
