Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from low income families, with more than 50% without computer access at home. This is very detrimental in my science classroom where there is only three working computers available. They are assigned remediation lessons on the computer weekly that target their lowest tested strands.

Throughout the day I service about 210 students.

The class that poses the most challenge is my resource room, consisting of eighteen Special Education students with varying exceptionalities. This class is a combination of six through eight grade students who have difficulties in reading, penmanship, and social skills. They are very eager to learn and appreciate it very much when technology is infused in the daily lessons. My school is a Title One school with 786 students enrolled and majority of the students receiving free or reduced price lunch. These students work really hard to complete given assignments but the lack of technology is hindering their progress.

My Project

My students who do not have computer access at home will utilize these tablets to complete their weekly computer assignments. Each student received a baseline assessment and the benchmark that they scored the lowest on is then given to them through this computer program as a form of remediation in order to meet their individual needs. Without these tablets they are missing out on the much needed remediation provided through the computer program. Every day technology is becoming more integral in our life and I cannot think of a better device that's functional, interactive or easier to use than these tablets.

My project will make a difference in the lives of all my students because the computer program is designed to address their individual academic needs.

The students' weekly grades will improve because now they have computer access in order to complete the given assignments.
