My Project

I teach at a small middle school in a small school district. The district I teach in only has one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school. The majority of the students live in poverty and are homeless. What I mean by homeless is that the parent(s) and the children are living with other relatives, because they do not have a home of their own. The middle school I teach at is a Title I school, which means that we receive funds from the government to get some of the resources that we need. In addition, the students all receive free lunch and breakfast every day.

How many times have teachers heard this question: "Do you have a pencil I can borrow?" All teachers have heard that infamous question.

I thought it would be a great idea to create a Student Supply Station in my classroom where students can have access to basic classroom supplies they need.

Why not supply my students with the tools they need to be successful?

I will do anything I can for that to happen. This supply station would contain items such as pencils, paper, tape, folders, pens, etc in order to help them be successful in my classroom and other classrooms!

My goal every day, is to make my classroom a safe, learning environment, so that my students work toward being successful scholars every day. I try to make learning as engaging as I can, because I know that many students can be turned off from it because they feel school is boring. I teach my students that history happens every day and they are a part of it. I love seeing the expressions on their faces when they begin to discuss historical events.
