Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious, creative, and hardworking. They love to learn new things. Our school focuses on serving economically disadvantaged students by providing an exceptional education that prepares all students for college, career, and life. One of the ways we accomplish this is to create a classroom culture that values our diverse backgrounds and races. We spend time every day working in groups and partnerships to build a bond and help each other learn. My students enjoy reading and working with their peers.

My Project

Focus and attention are some of the biggest challenges in the classroom. The 20/21 school year brought new challenges in education due to COVID, online learning, social distancing. Students faced new challenges at home and in the classroom.

Student mental health and the ability to focus and stay on task will be critical for success in the upcoming school year.

This project will provide tools and techniques to help students improve their focus, coping skills, and growth mindset. The Pop Push Bubble Sensory Fidget Toy will allow students to keep their hands busy while still listening and participating in class discussions and activities. I have recently become a practitioner of yoga and have enjoyed the benefits of focusing on breath and mindfulness. I can't wait to use the books and yoga cards in this project to teach yoga and mindfulness to my students so they can grow in focus and calm.
