Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My science curriculum uses modeling and demo labs to help our students understand very complex ideas. Many times by drawing what they are seeing in the labs, my students are able to make abstract science concepts more concrete. Furthermore, they can then use these drawings and labeled designs to enhance their understanding while also strengthening their explanations.

My goal is to help my students demonstrate their knowledge in multiple ways and adding drawings is just one additional way to achieve this.

My students bring various skills to the classroom environment and many times when they need to articulate complex ideas, having a drawing they created during one of our lab experiences helps strengthen their explanations. My students are eager to learn, but many of them have diverse needs. While some may need more visuals to help, others may need resources to help them succeed. By funding this project, you're helping me take away at least one of the obstacles that often hinder our students' success by providing crayons, colored pencils, pencils, and glue sticks.
