My Students

In our fourth grade classroom, we start off every morning with a warm hello and friendly wave. It has always been important to me to instill a sense of family within our classroom to create a caring and safe environment. Many of my students carry the burden of difficult personal lives upon entering the school building. They work super hard and they are eager and excited to learn. Therefore, it is even more important to create an environment where the students feel ownership, safety, and care.

The majority of my students are learning English as a new language.

As learners of the new language, many of my students translate for their parents and grandparents at home. They carry a big responsibility of not only learning the language to advance their own academic careers but also to help their own families.

As a classroom teacher, it is my job to advocate for my hardworking and incredibly deserving students. I would love to have an opportunity to provide the materials for my students to provide them with everything they need in order to succeed in school.

My Project

I am requesting books on a variety of non-fiction topics. Our a school is a community that cultivates lifelong learners. My students embody this mission and thrive to always try their best in everything that they do. For the upcoming reading unit, my students will be conducting research on different topics relating to extreme weather.

As a teacher in a high-poverty, Title I school, it is difficult to witness my students not have access to the materials and books that they need.

By contributing to this project, you will be singlehandedly providing my students with the books they need to conduct their research. Filling our classroom library will give my children the opportunity to grow and learn. They will be able to blossom into lifelong readers.
