My Students
Cooperation and critical thinking are becoming the foundation for education. Companies have specifically outlined that new employees lack cooperation and skills to work with a group.
Finding the funding for the materials we need to keep them engaged can be challenging.
These students come to my class already at a disadvantage because we are a Title I school. However, just because we lack the funds does not mean we lack the drive to succeed. The students who enter my class are yearning for knowledge and information. They have personality and drive unlike any other. They need the close interaction in social situations to thrive and develop the skills they need for the future.
My Project
These Scholastic News magazines keep students engaged in reading nonfiction. They also give kids of all learning styles an excellent menu of options, both print and digital, to read more about current and world events.
Reading is the foundation of growth as a student.
These kids need motivation and choice to keep them wanting to learn more. These magazines will foster that during shared and independent reading in our classroom.
Using the digital portion of the curriculum that Scholastic offers is just as rich and engaging as the print version. Both will keep these students growing as readers and writers this year.
