My Students

The goal for our students is to relate history to current events, while improving their literacy skills. We want students to understand that today's news can have an impact on their lives.

Many of the students are in special education and have a variety of disabilities and individual needs.

They require hands-on materials to master their goals. The use of visual aids and text features in Junior Scholastic can enhance their learning and bring real-life news into the classroom, relating to our history lessons. The students have big dreams and set high expectations for themselves. In order to reach their goals, we want to provide them with the best educational materials possible.

My Project

The students are always more interested and engaged in a history lesson when they can relate current events to their own lives. With copies of Junior Scholastic the students will be able to learn about national and international news, build important map reading skills and read articles that cover important moments in American and world history. Every Scholastic text challenges the students to read closely and analyze the text with ELA performance questions in mind. These ELA performance questions will help the students master the necessary skills to succeed on their ELA state test as well in their day to day life. These informational texts are great for motivating our students to want to learn both specific literary skills and historical content. The Junior Scholastic magazines will be used by 150 students daily. These magazines will foster a love of learning!

The students need Junior Scholastic to make learning fun and interesting throughout the year.

Junior Scholastic will provide hands-on learning in the classroom with great visuals! The students deserve the best manipulatives and tools to help them reach their goals. Please consider donating to allow our students a more diverse instruction in the classroom!
