My Project

My students are eager learners who bravely share their challenges when it comes to reading. Sadly, reading proficiency scores have been getting worse for several years. The pandemic has made a bad situation worse. This is why I am so passionate about assisting them to become avid and devoted readers as I was when I was their age. To do so I am looking to create a reading environment that is inviting and engaging. I wish to present them with a reading nook that is cozy and comfortable where they can snuggle with a good book. I aim to give them fun and interactive materials to learn the fundamentals of phonics and phonemic awareness to build their confidence in reading so they can fully immerse themselves in the reading space created just for them. Our class mantra this year is the "The Power Of Yet". I want them to embody that their reading may not be what they wish it to be YET but with practice, they will develop into proficient readers.
