Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

These are unprecedented times. Never did I imagine that when my students and I said goodbye in March, it would be the last time that I would see them all in person! Even though we were successful with our distance learning this year, the uncertainty for next year is definitely weighing heavy on my students and families!

My students and I have embarked on the distance learning journey and will most likely continue this journey in the new school year!

We are actively engaging in all sorts of different online platforms and learning new things. My students and I participate in daily Google Meet video calls where we learn our new math lessons, check in with each other and play games for social interaction. In addition, I am recording lessons at home for them to view and continue to learn new material. I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation, and families' willingness to try new things! My students truly are the most resilient people I know!

My Project

My students love to read, write and express themselves through art. They are curious learners and work extremely hard to be their best every day!

I want to give my students high-interest books and art supplies to help them grow in and out of the classroom.

Given the uncertainty of this summer and the new school year, I want to ensure that my students have high-quality materials so they are able to complete their school work successfully from their homes. Many of my students lack access to supplies outside of our classroom and these books and art materials will make it easier for them to do their school work.

Nonfiction books are a huge part of the third grade curriculum and the National Geographic Readers are sure to be a hit with my students. My students are also big fans of the What is? series and the Where is? series and these books are sure to help us grow as readers. The crayons will allow each of my students to have their own set of art materials. We will use these for illustrating our writing, as well as checking in on the Mood Meter each day. Social-emotional learning is more essential now than ever and it is extremely important to me that my students are not only able to write about how they are feeling, but also express themselves through art in the classroom and in their homes. Please help me give my students supplies that will help them blossom into future leaders!
