My Students

The students in my fourth-grade class are curious individuals who learn best with the use of differently modalities and instruments.

Class computers, tablets and Botley Robots are incorporated into our classroom daily to reach every student at their level.

Together, we are learning about each other and our strengths and weaknesses as learners. Each student is happy to be able to help each other and give feedback to their peers so that all learners can soar. This program is good for my English Language Learners, as well as my advanced students because it reaches each student on his or her level.

The use of the technology will be incorporated daily in all subject areas throughout the day. My English Language Learner Students and Students with Disabilities will have access to text that they can read.

The motto of my school is that every child can learn, just not on the same day or in the same way. With that being said, it is my mission to reach all learners and having these programs will be another tool to help all children learn to express themselves so they are college and career ready.

My Project

This year, the Fourth Grades students in Little Neck, Queens are being emersed in Computer Science. Together, we are learning how to code, using both plugged and unplugged activities. Of course, each task promotes cooperative learning, independent practice, group discussion, and children autonomy. Our focus now as the year is progressing to bring Computer Science into all content areas, such as math, reading, writing, social studies, and science. The Q-Ball will be used during group work activities where the children are collaborating with each other and the entire class on how to code, their Botley Robot and how to debug the robot as well.

It is imperative as an educator that I prepare these children for jobs of the future!

This is why I want to bring Sphero Robotics, into our lessons, Q-Ball into our group discussions, puck lights to monitor their social and emotional well being while they are working so hard on each task presented before them each day. Our cooperative learning atmosphere can be enhanced by bringing in tools to enhance the overall learning experience of these children.
