Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are located right in the heart of the Bronx, extremely close to the Yankee Stadium. This site is a Title 1 school. According to the U.S. Department of Education, Title 1, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, provides financial assistance to local educational agencies and schools with high numbers or high percentages of students from low-income families to help ensure that all students meet challenging state academic standards.

My students are 25 talented young ladies with a passion for dance.

They are extremely talented, determined, and always wanting to be challenged. Many of my students come from families that cannot afford to pay for dance classes or costumes. Growing up in the neighborhood I teach in, I know the struggle these children go through even though I was fortunate enough to not have the same experiences.

Dance is a privilege for them. As an educator first, I ensure that my students are performing well during the day in their academic classes before they are allowed to participate in our after school dance team.

My Project

It is no surprise that when we look good, we feel good. My beautiful student dancers have been working extremely hard all year long. They have learned multiple routines in various genres of dance. Unfortunately, they cannot afford to buy costumes. Therefore my goal is to receive donations for a portion of their costumes.

Wearing beautiful costumes for their recital will absolutely boost their self-confidence.

This will help them become a better version of themselves on that stage and have an experience they will never forget. By donating to this project you will make their first recital an unforgettable one.
