This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom is full of creative, critical thinkers. They love to learn and, more importantly, ask questions. I want to bring that love to life by giving them the gift of microscopes!

Our school is a Title I urban school with the most diverse population in our district.

My wonderful classroom consists of 27 brilliant students. 4 of my students are English language learners, and 2 of them receive special services.

Over 66% of our students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunches. Our sweet students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a large array of experiences to our classrooms and school. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars - where expectations are the same every day and basic needs are met. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunity to utilize a variety of resources to make learning real and fun.

This project will supply our students with a class set of handheld microscopes. These will allow us to view the world around us through a different lens. As our first-grade classes rotate in the afternoon, these microscopes will be used by all 3 first grade classes in our school!

I also have items in this project for more STEM building tools, anchor charts to help cement learning, fidget bands for my active students, and folders to help with organizing materials.
