I am teaching a second grade class for the very first time. My students are eager to learn and willing to give 110% to achieve their goals . We are a Title I school, which means that about 90% of our population receives free lunch.

Many of our students do not have books at home to read. They show a burning desire to read all types of genres. I want them to have the opportunity to be able to go to the class library and choose a book that sparks their interest. I want to can be fun and entertaining as well as educational.

I am asking for a small library of books so that my students can make their own choices as to what they want to read. I want them to know that they have choices and can choose whatever book they find interests them. Many of my students are reading below grade and by having the choice to go to the listening library may make them feel more confident...I already know that this is true. When they find that they can follow along with the audio they realize that they CAN read and recognize the words as well as understand what they are listening to. The students have different learning styles...many are auditory learners and need to hear the words. I want the TFK as another reading source as well as a learning source. My students in the past have enjoyed the TFK. I believe that these materials will make my student feel confident in being able to choose and know that they have the resources to choose from in order to become the best readers that they can be.

Your help will make it possible for my students to increase their reading abilities, make independent choices and learn to love reading.
