To Mars And Beyond! Learning Collaboration And Logical Thinking.
My students need a classroom set of Ozobots to learn about logical thinking in math class, to learn collaboration skills during our Mars Exploration units, and to learn procedural writing in science class.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
We are 66 students that create learning at a close-knit community public school in rural Maine. We work together in a team setting where all three grade levels (6th, 7th, and 8th) learn and work together to try and understand the world beyond our small town. We have three great teachers who encourage us, push us, and allow us the freedom to choose what we want to learn about in order to be successful in life.
We are lucky enough to be in a looping situation where we come in as sixth graders and stay with the same team and teachers through the end of eighth grade, learning, laughing, and building a caring community that whole time.
The classroom environment is collaborative, creative, and innovative! We come from different backgrounds, some more fortunate than others, but we all have one thing in common. We love coming to school every day and learning about the world around us!
My Project
With this set of bots, we will be able to hone our skills in logical thinking, an area that will help us in math, science, writing, and life! We will also be using them to learn collaboratively about how robots work and how to communicate clearly in a non-realtime situation.
We can already see the great projects that our teachers can facilitate that will help teach us the 21st century skills we need to develop for the next generation of jobs that we will be entering into in the near future.
These bots are a simple, relatively inexpensive (18 robots!) way for our whole class (66 students!) to work in teams to create challenges and puzzles that will help meet our goal of thinking more logically when problem solving. We know that our community supports us with all it can, but being in a very rural part of the US, we understand that government money can only go so far when it comes to funding schools. So, we are asking for help to purchase the technology that will prepare us for the workforce we will enter into in a few short years!
