My Students
The students at my school are passionate and enthusiastic about learning. They enjoy lessons that are student centered, which allows them to collaborate with each other and to explore new creative ideas.
The one word to describe my students is resilient.
Through perseverance and effort they will not allow any challenge to get in the way of any of their goals. Learning in a small, tight-knit school has allowed them to grow personally and academically as well. I am confident that their academic success will pave the way to a bright future.
My Project
I am requesting Scholastic Scope Magazine and Scholastic Action Magazine for my classroom. The Scholastic Scope Magazine is geared towards students in grades 6-8.
The articles in the magazine are high level and high interest which match the demands of the Common Core Learning Standards.
Scholastic Action engages struggling and reluctant readers with high interest text. Utilizing both of these magazines will reinforce and support the skills my students have learned in their English Language Arts class.
Motivation is a key component in a well rounded literacy curriculum. I believe Scholastic Scope and Scholastic Action will help in motivating my students to read more.
Both magazines will provide my students with exceptional fiction and non-fiction texts that they otherwise might have missed out on. I want my students to enjoy reading, and I know these magazines will be a great resource for them.
