My Students

Every morning I am greeted with twenty smiling faces who say "Good morning Mrs. R". I teach at a Title One school and eighty percent of our school population is on free or reduced price lunch.

Classroom demographics are sixty percent African American, fifteen percent White, fifteen percent Hispanic and ten percent Indian.

I have students where English is their second language, as well as, students in the Exceptional Student Education program.

All of my students are unique in their own way. Each child has varied academic levels. Some students need more challenging activities and other students need extra support and remediation. Regardless of the academic needs, my students are ready for a day of learning through hands-on activities, singing, and play.

My Project

The Instant Math Learning Centers and Math File Folder Games are materials that provide concrete Math skills that my students need to acquire prior to entering Kindergarten, in addition to, being fun and 100% engaging.

Mathematics is an area that 50% of my students are currently below expectations.

The Instant Math Learning Centers feature double-sided activity charts that allows up to 4 children to work at the same time. Each center has simple picture instructions that are accessible for all levels of academic needs to follow. All of my students will be able to work independently within their groups. These centers also provide an assessment card that will make it easy to track my student's progress.

The Math File Folder Games are equally fun and engaging. The are an all in one set of various skills my students can use independently with no prep. Covering skills such as shapes, colors, sorting, basic operations, and numbers & counting.

Both sets of materials will be a part of my student's daily Math centers. Students rotate through 4 different math stations and must complete each station by the end of the week. I am confident that the Instant Math Learning Center and the Math File Folder Games provide tremendous growth in my students Math skills. They will be soaring to Infinity and Beyond!
