My Students

Do you remember what it felt like when you lost your first pet? Our class symbolically adopted an injured loggerhead sea turtle named Test to help with her medical bills. We lost Test this summer to infection from an injury due to discarded fishing line.

We were so motivated by Test, we decided to educate others about the dangers of marine debris on the fragile marine ecosystem.

The students have started a recycling project in honor of Test. We are working on a sculpture using a variety of recycled materials but need a few other items to complete the project.

My Project

The students will become more aware of the dangers of everyday items and how they potentially become discarded into the waterways ending up in our oceans. The paints and adhesive type materials I've listed will help complete our project. Paints, permanent markers, glue, and other aids listed can be used on several recycling projects I hope to do in the future as well. Disney is encouraging more projects like ours to educate and help the environment. There can be no better way to honor a turtle such as Test.

This project has already brought awareness of the importance of recycling to our students and faculty.

The artwork produced and displayed will hopefully bring this awareness to the community. Your donations and the support from Disney will make this project and future projects easier to complete on a larger scale.
