My Students

As a school counselor, I service both general education and special education students through mandated counseling and social-emotional learning. My school is a Title I public school, compromised of a diverse population of approximately 500 students. Many of our students in grades Pre-K through fifth grade are English Language Learners.

As a counselor, I help my students to learn and apply skills to understand and manage emotions, set goals, foster positive relationships, and practice good decision making skills.

My Project

Hi! My name is Ms. Nugent and this will be my first year as a full-time guidance counselor in Brooklyn. As a new counselor, I would love to have my room equipped with flexible seating, books, fidgets, games and materials that are essential to social emotional learning. In returning to the school building after the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important that my students feel safe, comfortable, and welcomed in my room.

All of the school's students deserve a warm, safe space to process through difficult emotions and with these supplies, students will have greater opportunities to learn about feelings and appropriate ways to cope with any obstacles that they may face.
