My Students
I have a very dynamic group of 7th graders for ELA this year. I know many of them well from teaching their 6th grade Social Studies class last year. The discussions that we had about history were rich with thoughtfulness and depth. They demonstrated their growing critical thinking skills when we brought in historical topics, like the factors that led to the fall of the Roman Empire, to the present day challenges we face in America.
I am excited to continue to foster their growth this year in ELA.
Through our first two units, we have covered issues related to community and identity. I anticipate more great conversations about literature and a lot of amazing writing as our year continues.
My Project
Winter is upon us and cold season is well underway. My classroom is in need of cleaning and health supplies to keep us well during this time of year. With healthy students comes great writing, so a replenishment of our pencils and sharpeners will keep our ideas flowing as well. Lysol wipes will be used to keep our desks and chairs germ-free. Paper towels will also help us to clean up after sneezes and coughs. Hand sanitizer and tissues being available during cold and flu season will help to keep students in my classroom safe from spreading sniffles. These supplies mean we can stay healthy and productive writers through until spring.
