My Students

My Transitional Kindergarten class will be learning to hold pencils correctly and print letters and numbers this year. These are difficult skills for five year olds, and I would love to be able to use the Handwriting Without Tears program to help them learn in a fun way.

Handwriting Without Tears is a program helps young learners develop strong fine-motor skills, so that they will be able to print with confidence.

Learning to print well and to print easily will boost their confidence later on when they are older, and asked to write stories, essays, or even print out long division problems! My TKs are just turning five. This is a new program in California for children that were previously considered at-risk for failure, due to lack of maturity and readiness. My students are racially diverse, and include English Learners and students with special needs. Our school is a high poverty school, and we are located in the San Fernando Valley.

My Project

I have requested some of the materials that are used with the Handwriting Without Tears program. These materials include block paper, mats, name plates, activity books, Stamp and See Screens, number books, pencils, crayons, workbooks, and the Sentence School program. These materials will help give my students a head start when it comes to developing fine motor skills, number sense and vocabulary. Each item was developed to help young children learn these skills easily and without frustration. When programs and materials are developmentally appropriate, students are excited and to participate and learn!

Your donation will be help a wonderful class of Transitional Kindergarteners to start off right in school.

Learning to print is a very important skill for these little learners, and your generosity will have a great impact upon them. Thank you for reading and considering this request!
