Help me give my students pillow folding rest mats and rest mat sheets so they have a clean and comfortable place to rest during our required rest time.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Jambo PreK", I say to my students to start off our day. They excitedly reply, "jambo!" Every week we say hello in a new language and learn a little about that language and culture. My students come from very diverse backgrounds, countries and cultures and love to share within these group discussions.
The vast majority of our school receives free meals and Title I services.
The students in my school come from very culturally diverse backgrounds, speak many different languages and are learning to work together. We are more alike than we are different. The PreK curriculum gives them many opportunities to learn through play and a hands-on approach.
My Project
Every day, my PreK class rests in the classroom so that they can recharge their batteries after all the learning they have done. My children's mats are 10 years old, ripped and tattered, with the stuffing falling out.
My PreK kids need comfortable and sanitary mats so they can rest.
Every child deserves a clean place to sleep. My children come to school without getting an appropriate amount of sleep at home. They then can engage in rigorous learning activities all day. When rest time comes, they need to be cozy so they can rest and then do their best.
When children receive the correct amount of sleep, there is no telling what they can achieve!
