Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is composed of 38 (two groups) of eager mathematicians. We work within an authentic learning environment and challenging curriculum.

My students represent a small piece of a very large public school system.

In our urban district, ours is one of many schools whose student population is largely composed of English Language Learners. My group is excited to come to school each day, and is so grateful for the classroom environment we are building together.

My Project

We have recently begun to use "thick" pencils. These pencils break far less and make a day's work a bit easier on the hands. The pencil sharpener we hope to acquire can accommodate pencils of any width, and sharpens only until the tip is sharp, shutting off when the pencil is ready to use. The Time Tracker would really aid in the implementation of our fast-paced, exciting and multi-part math curriculum. It would allow both students and myself to remain in tune to where we are in a day's lesson in regards to our goals/ objectives for the day.

Ultimately, my students will be rewarded with sharp pencils, accessible at all times, and will begin to build a sense of time management.

An awareness of timing/ upcoming breaks will allow many of my more active students to build upon self-regulation abilities.
