Building a love of reading does not just come from reading books. It comes from reading other texts, such as magazines as well! I am currently a first grade teacher at a brand new progressive charter school that just opened it's doors to 150 Kindergarten and First graders. We will eventually serve students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. We are one of only 6 charter schools in our district and have a unique mission to teaching science and green living.

As a first grade teacher, it is my mission to keep school fun and exciting. Books are not the only way to reach my student's literacy needs. Magazines such as Time For Kids and Weekly Reader give students the opportunity to learn the most up to date information and enrich their science knowledge by a mile!

With your kind donation, each of my students will receive his or her very own magazine on a weekly or monthly basis. The magazines will help me teach science, social studies and reading. Each student will also get to take these magazines home with them for continued enrichment beyond the classroom! In the past when my students have gotten their Weekly Readers or Time for Kids magazines, their faces lit up with excitement to get something new that they are able to keep and learn from for as long as they wish!

By donating to our classroom, you will be helping my students learn so many important things about the world. You will also be donating to the charter school movement, an important cause that is changing education every day!
