My Students

How can I prepare my students to be successful in a world full of technology without having enough technology in my classroom? This year I have 23 wonderful first grade students who have so much curiosity and a true love for learning! They attend a Kindergarten through third grade Title I school, and they come from diverse backgrounds. In addition, many students here receive free or reduced lunches, so there's a lack of opportunities to explore learning through technology at home.

My students will be expected to take state tests on computers by the time they are in third grade, but it begins now!

Therefore, it is imperative for me to prepare my students by giving them the opportunity to explore concepts being taught by using updated technology.

My Project

My students learn best by having engaging lessons presented to them in various ways.

What is one of the latest and most engaging ways to keep kids interested while learning?

Technology, that's what! These requested chromebooks will help support all the ways my students learn and allow them to apply what they have learned beyond the classroom. Each student will be able to rotate to literacy centers with the option of actually using a chromebook. They would be able to: take Accelerated Reader tests on books they have read, practice spelling online using spelling city, and enhance their math fluency and reasoning skills with math games.

They could even use these when they begin researching animals for our Rainforest Unit later in the year! Cooperative groups would have access to detailed photographs as well as detailed information for culminating projects. With updated technology, the possibilities are endless, and my students would love and appreciate having more than four computers

for daily use!

By giving all of the students access to new technology, we are investing in their futures!
