My Students

My students love learning and enjoy new experiences. In our Title I school, my students have very diverse backgrounds. Despite their socio-economic hardship, my students are eager to rise to the challenges. They especially enjoy coming to music when they are looking forward to instruments we play and songs we sing and dance to.

My culturally diverse students work together as one ensemble, supporting each other and being responsible for their parts and learning.

They care about collaborating to help as an ensemble.

Our school is in southwestern Florida. It is a beautiful place to learn, perform, and grow as little musicians. Through grants, my class can obtain more instruments and explore new ways of creating and playing music. We want to have more ways of playing music and grow as musicians.

My Project

I am beginning to prepare for the next school year. With so much still unknown in terms of the pandemic, I have included a few items for the cleansing of the instruments and the air. In addition, I am adding to my little library in my classroom.

The books chosen each have a specific purpose.

Some books are used for movement activities, some for instrument exploration. Other books are song stories that the children will learn to sing. Finally, some stories are classic nursery rhymes that can be used for rhythmic activities. Ultimately all the books will be used in many different lessons as my classes learn how to play instruments, work on rhythms through the use of word patterns and nursery rhymes, and learning to sing properly using head voice and good breath control.
