This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
For Kindergarten, "Calendar Time" is an opportunity to teach and review a wide assortment of vocabulary and skills that students will be using for the rest of their lives on a daily basis. So why, should it be something just handled on the classroom wall?
My students are mostly from very low income families, and are not too used to having their own materials to care for - things they can truly claim as theirs, something they have created.
Every chance I get, I want to give things like that to them. They deserve it!
My Project
Good, sturdy binders for calendar activity sheets will put all our calendar activities right into the hands of the students. Having a good binder will help them better complete the calendar pages near our calendar area, rather than having to move back to the tables.
Help my students begin learning how very helpful their calendar skills can be.
It's a first step toward developing organization and time management skills. It's a chance to make learning more engaging for every student. I hope you'll agree to help!
