This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Currently I utilize a room shared by 4 academic support staff. We work with all ages of students providing support for Special needs, IEPs, ESL services, and early intervention. Since we are not a homeroom, our furniture is largely hand-me-downs. Our bookshelf is so wobbly it's unsafe, and we have no shelf to house books. The room feels rather sad! I want students to feel welcome, safe, and eager to learn in our space.

I need your help to procure these pieces of furniture to help set up a clean, organized, safe, and inviting space for learners of all ages, and to bring a little life into the room.

This way, student materials can be seen and located easily, the clear bins making things accessible even if students don't have the vocabulary in English or the literacy skills to read a label. The bookshelf will assure that appropriate texts are visible and inviting, encouraging students to revisit familiar stories again and again.
