Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Coconut Palm K-8 Academy is a one-of-a-kind school focused on preparing students for high school education in Agriscience Engineering and Medical Biotechnology.Coconut Palm is a unique school. Our school is separated into a lower academy (grades K–5) and an upper academy (grades 6–8). Coconut Palm is open to all students.

Our school is a Title 1 school, which means that we are in a low income area with at risk students.

Many of the students at this school come from low economic backgrounds.

Motivating these students is key, many times it is hard to get parental involvement at our school but with drive and determination from the students, staff, and families, I believe that we can reach and surpass our goals.

My Project

The use of TIME for Kids magazines will motivate student to get engagement in social studies, science, and current events. It will provide them with real word applications, stories, and news that is important to them. We currently use old Time for Kids magazines that I have collected but they are old, out of date, and there are not enough copies for the whole class.

You would really help my students get more involved in science and social studies.
