My Students

My ELL students need to be able to read informational text at different levels in order to participate in discussions as a class. Time For Kids (TFK) is a great resource for ELL students because of the visuals and extra support on line. My students are also busy writing books, a binding machine would be helpful.

I work in a Title III school with low income students.

Half the school is Hispanic and the rest are black. My Ell students are lovely but they are not exposed to current events at home so TFK is an entry point for what is happening in the world. My school does not have the money to pay for TFK at the moment.

My Project

My students will learn how to read informational text and all its components with TFK. Learning to annotate and respond to the text will set them up for success in High School. My students will write autobiographies, ABC books and poetry. I would love to preserve them with a binding machine.

Students will have access to real world and authentic situations by reading what is current, not a dry textbook.

When binding books students can present them at family publishing parties.
