My Students

Me-"What are we going to do? S-"We're going to seize the day!" Me-"What does that mean?" S-"We're going to learn as much as we can!" This is how we start the day off in my class everyday! Daily and world news is an important part of learning and growing as a citizen in the world.

My students come from low-income families.

They all receive free lunch at our school. They are eager to learn, but most never get to go outside of our city because they have no way of getting there or parents that work two or more jobs to make ends meet. Places that we take for granted such as beaches and museums are sometimes off limits because of funds or lack of transportation.

My Project

These materials will be used to learn about the world around them. It will be like taking a field trip without leaving our classroom. Reading new and interesting stories also helps them to be excited about reading and learning. These TIME For Kids magazines are a great way to get learning in even when they don't realize they are actually learning! It's something exciting and different from the normal, everyday pace in the classroom.

This donation will help improve reading and will make a difference in making learning unique and fun!

They will have access to exciting articles and the best part is that they get to keep them when they're finished! They can take them home to read and share with the rest of their family. This gives them a sense of belief in themselves because they will be able to read something on their own and it's also another source of reading material that they can have at home.
