Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my fifth-grade classroom, my students can enter into a safe place. A place where learning about literature becomes a daily exploration, where they can be themselves and express themselves and where they have a safe and consistent environment filled with love and care.

The students I serve come from the highest poverty area code in Philadelphia.Every day is uncertain for them and their normal day is being a part of a community riddled with violence, drugs, and poverty.

One thing I know for sure, is this population of students are some of the most creative and brightest minds I have seen. My expectation for them never drops, but pushes them to peer outside their own world. All they need is the resources and tools that will give them equal access to unlocking their potential and learning endeavors.

I believe every student deserves someone who will do all they can to give them opportunities to be loved and to succeed. My hope is that they can step into my classroom and feel supported. That they can be given the tools to truly succeed at the level they deserve to shine at.

My Project

The students that we serve now have grown up in a world that is driven my technology through means of the videos, social media, apps, and gaming platforms. I want to be able to provide them with engaging articles that we can use during lessons and that they can read for leisure.

My students don't always get to access the most accurate new and information.

I want them to learn about the world in a way where they can be excited! Time for Kids provides diverse articles positive outlooks on social issues and topics!
