Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused so many disruptions in student's daily life. We have yet to fully measure the long term academic and emotional impacts. Thankfully, additional funding has been redirected to academic intervention. As school social workers, we know socio-emotional wellbeing also needs to be addressed. The last two school years have demonstrated that students continue to struggle with emotional regulation, interpersonal skills, and limited coping skills.

Our high school students will soon graduate and we want them to be prepared to deal with all of the challenges and stressors that come with adult life.

We are hoping to establish the Tiger Wellness Corner that will provide students with a respite from stressful moments. From fidget toys and bubbles to social-emotional learning blocks and affirmation cards. Students will be engaged in learning coping skills and mental health services to support their learning and growth.

Our high school is a cornerstone of the Lincoln Heights Community. So many successful students have walked through our school's halls, and we hope to continue that proud tradition. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!
