Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With an Instax Fuji camera film, my classroom will transform into a sanctuary where students learn to see the world through the eyes of others.

By capturing moments of joy, struggle, and resilience, students will develop a deeper appreciation for diverse human experiences.

Through guided reflections and discussions, they will learn to interpret emotions and perspectives depicted in each photograph, fostering empathy and connection with individuals beyond their immediate surroundings.

As my students explore the stories behind the images they capture, they will also learn to channel their empathy into action. Through collaborative projects and community outreach initiatives, they will work towards alleviating suffering in others, whether through raising awareness, advocating for social change, or offering support to those in need. By engaging in real-world applications of compassion, students will cultivate a sense of agency and responsibility toward creating a more empathetic and compassionate society.

I will measure the success of my students' understanding of compassion through a multifaceted approach. Classroom discussions will provide a platform for students to articulate their thoughts, perspectives, and insights gained from their photographic explorations. Additionally, I will conduct regular teacher evaluations, assessing their technical proficiency in photography and their ability to empathize with others and take meaningful action to address issues of suffering and injustice. Through these assessments, I aim to track my students' growth in compassion and empower them to become compassionate leaders and changemakers in their communities and beyond.
