My Project

Activities that address sensory and emotional needs in kindergarten are crucial for young children's overall development. At this age, children are still learning how to regulate their emotions and respond to sensory stimuli. Sensory activities, like playing with textured materials-sand trays, mystery items, stickers to form letters, using tweezers to pick up small items, plastic letters for matching and building, and materials to make multisensory sight word folders-engaging in movement-based games, help children develop motor skills, enhance focus, and reduce overstimulation or anxiety.

Emotional needs activities, such as role-playing, conversations/storytelling, and learning how to use calming tools, teach kids how to express feelings, build empathy, and navigate social interactions.

One way to do this is by reading books to students and having discussion about their big feelings. Another way is having calming and fidget tools will help students regulate their behaviors and reduce stress.

By addressing these needs, I can not only foster better engagement in the learning but also promote mental well-being, allowing students to feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
