Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The books I’m requesting will provide my students with thrilling, diverse stories—especially by Black authors—that they can see themselves in, keeping them engaged and excited about reading. Many students who struggle to find joy in literature are drawn to suspenseful, powerful narratives, and these books will help foster a love for reading. The journals will give them a space to reflect, express themselves, and strengthen their writing skills, building confidence in their academic and personal voices.

I aim to create a classroom environment where students are excited to read and write.

I want them to see literature as something that reflects their lives, challenges their perspectives, and sparks their creativity. I hope to nurture critical thinking, self-expression, and a deep appreciation for storytelling by providing these books and journals. Ultimately, I want my students to leave my class feeling empowered by the words they read and the ones they write.

My students are resilient, curious, and full of potential. Many juggle responsibilities beyond the classroom, yet they show up each day eager to learn. They deserve stories that reflect their experiences and challenges and books that make them feel seen and understood. They also deserve the chance to express themselves freely through writing, without the barriers of access to materials. Supporting this project means giving them the tools to discover their love for reading, develop their voices, and believe in the power of their own stories. Your generosity will leave a lasting impact on their learning and their lives. Thank you for being part of their journey!
