Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of my students haven't had any educational experiences until kindergarten. Their parents are Spanish speakers who are struggling with assisting them with daily homework and book reports. Many of them don't have English books at home. Also, we don't have guided reading books in our classroom.

My students live in Caron, Queens, NY.

Due overcrowded schools in Caron, everyday they get on a school bus to attend our school in Elmhurst. Our school was created just for them. Most of my students didn't have pre-K or early education experiences. Therefore, everyday they appreciate and love our daily actives. There's a day that I don't hear my students say how much they love school. They are very caring and well behaved group and I love them like my own.

My Project

These books will be used during guided reading lessons during literacy center time. Once I will introduce each set of books, the students will be allowed to borrow the books to read at home and show their progress to their parents. In addition, the books will used during independent reading time and during buddy reading.

Please support this project to help my students move from Level A to Level C or D in June.

Because we are a brand new school and it was opened to relieve overcrowded Carona schools, we are not well funded. We have a very small amount of guided reading books in school which are shared among the entire school. Please, my children would love to have their own classroom guided reading books. My goal is for my kindergartners to become independent readers!!!
