Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

For the first time in my career, I find myself teaching middle school social studies. I love history, and teaching it to my Title I students, regardless of their age. I know that my incoming middle school students in the South Bronx will be beyond eager to attend school this fall, whether in person or virtually.

I will continue to do everything in my power to get all levels and abilities of my middles engaged and interested in global history and US history so that when they enter high school they have a solid foundation.

Of course I will still dress in character, talk with an accent, and use my microphone! I work diligently to show my cherubs the world outside of New York City.

My Project

My laptop has been getting a lot of use during this pandemic. Previously I worked in a school that supplied me with a laptop, but when they experienced COVID budget cuts and I found another school community to be a part of, I had to return the laptop. I have been using my older laptop which has worked wonders for me, but it is on the way out. I am a remote teacher teaching both remote and in person students. I am in need of a laptop that will allow me to hear my students, see my students, connect with my students and create material for my students. I will use this laptop to write lesson plans and further my own educational learning. Because of our dependence on virtual learning, I believe that this up to date computer will allow me to be more successful as an educator.

My students deserve the most they can get during this time of virtual learning.

This laptop will allow me to provide access to digital resources (supported by members of the community who have donated to my classroom before) and will continue to keep learning engaging and fun. This laptop will make learning from home exciting for my students because I can provide them better materials and instruction as my older laptop begins to slowly deteriorate.
