My Students

This just in! Tons of fun, exciting activities are going on at Marquez and my students want to share them their community. With the materials purchased, we can establish a weekly room podcast where students can share all their successes on our class website.

My second grade students are creative, inquisitive children.

They love to incorporate technology into what they are learning. As an Apple Distinguished School, the students have access to laptops daily and have been learning how to use the various programs to learn about various topics and then showcase their learning. The technology we use in the classroom allows them to use their skills - reading, writing, reasoning, etc. - to produce wonderful projects.

My Project

For students who are learning to read and write, creating podcasts helps them learn and hone these skills in a fun and motivating way. Students will write drafts and learn to read their writings with a purpose. Students will be able to bring their drafts to life by taking digital pictures to go along with their words. Once the podcasts are published through iTunes, the students will be able to access them from their home and share them with their family and friends.

When students see what they have published, the pride they will feel will encourage them to further their writing and reading skills.

Not only will creating these podcasts help them hone their skills, the podcasts will also help build a bridge of communication between the school and the home.
