This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Everyday the students and I begin our day with whole group instruction. Once we are finished with whole group instruction we break into center/station work. Here I am able to target the reading needs of the students.

Who are my students?

My students are bright, intelligent children who against many odds love to learn. My students struggle with reading and although reading isn't their strong point they try their best. We all understand how important it is to read.

My Project

Imagine looking at a book wanting so hard to read the words and understand the story, but you have no idea how to read. It can be very discouraging. Close your eyes and imagine who many things you read on a daily basis. Try explaining to a child that letters turn into words, words turn into sentences, sentences turn into stories, and stories turn into a world of information. These guided reading books will help me reach my students and give them techniques to move them forward on their path to reading.

Have you ever heard the saying " Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.

Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" this saying applies to reading as well. Reading is essential to every day life. These guided reading books will help build these life essential skills.
