My Students

My 6th-grade students are motivated and excited to be learning especially when organized! They are an energetic group of learners living in Elk Grove, California located in Sacramento County.

We are a diverse school with students from many ethnic backgrounds, cultures, languages, and learning styles.

Located in an old farming community turned suburb, we have a supportive parent base and community.

We are in our second year of being an AVID Elementary School.

¨AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nonprofit that changes lives by helping schools shift to a more equitable, student-centered approach. 80,000 educators are trained annually to close the opportunity gap, so they can prepare all students for college, careers, and life.¨

My Project

Organization is a critical component for student success. Our AVID Elementary goal this school year is for students to use 3-ring binders to support their organization. All 6th grade students will use a binder with dividers for subjects, and page protectors for each syllabus. The objective is for students to have a designated place to keep all papers, notes, and handouts. The student binder with pocket dividers and page protectors support student organization which in turn enables student success. A student who is organized is ready for learning!

Organization is managing materials, planning & prioritizing, and strategically controlling your learning responsibly.

Students who organize develop & use processes, manage their time well, interact with their teachers, and use self-direction & self-evaluation.
