Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This will be my 4th year teaching 4th grade at my current school. I have been fortunate to have such a great group of students in my classroom. As a teacher, we are entrusted to provide the best care for them, but sometimes some obstacles make that impossible.

We start school at the end of August, which means temperatures are generally in the 90s, the same with school in May and June.

Often the students will not be able to focus, and some will even try to make their paper fans. Our school does not have air conditioning, and we cannot purchase our own because the electric circuits would not be able to handle every class having one. Last year I bought a water bottle for any student who wanted to spray themselves to keep cool.

Humans need four things to survive: food, water, shelter, and air. I am hoping that by having some updated fans, we cool down the students enough to have them comfortable, focused, and ready to learn.
