Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

For most of the students in my class this will be their first school field trip and first time visiting and seeing animals up close. Our district will pay for admission and busing to the zoo, but I want to bring the zoo to our classroom. I'd love for my students to learn about animals before our field trip using hands on building materials so that when we arrive at the zoo they will have certain animals that they are interested in seeing. Working with materials before hand gets them excited to see them in real life.

After our field trip to the zoo I want to keep that excitement alive.

Letting them use these materials for developmental play, from finger puppets, to science kits, to building habitats and animals and ending with a culminating activity of adopting their own animal (stuffie) to take home and take care of
