This Chair Is Breaking My Back!

Help me give my students better seating options! My students LOVE sitting at the tall tables, but my currents stools are a little bit of a back breaker!

My Project

To provide flexible seating for my students, I have three tall table choices in my classroom. When I first received the tall tables, the intent was to use them only for standing students. While I do have several students that need to stand while learning, I also have full class loads, which requires me to places students at those tables who did not choose to stand.

I would love to provide my students with a comfortable seating option that would enhance their learning.

The current option can be distracting to their learning as they are not very comfortable. A few years ago, I purchased 8 stools without backs. Though the stools are very sturdy, they are not very comfortable. The biggest complaint from my students is that their backs hurt, and they want to lean back in their chairs to rest their backs. By the middle of the class period, I can see they are squirming to find a comfortable position. It is very difficult to find stools with backs that will survive in a high school classroom. Most of the stools have wheels. I don't want my students racing each other across the room on the stools! The options without wheels are often meant for a home setting and would not stand up to the wear and tear of high school students. I have wonderful students, and I would love to make them feel more comfortable in their learning environment.
